Henry Lab Group

Dr. Roland Henry is interested in the development of quantitative methods for brain and spinal cord imaging. The focus of our lab is to develop MRI techniques that yield physiological information about normal and diseased brains. Our research involves developing new methods and technologies that improve the characterization of disease processes.

Our lab is the MRI research division of the UCSF Multiple Sclerosis (MS) group. MS is a complex, uniquely human illness in which the immune system attacks the brain and spinal cord. We have developed a pipeline which combines various MRI techniques that are specifically targeted to research MS. Some of these techniques include diffusion, fMRI, spinal cord imaging and lesion segmentation. The MS group is a multimodality team, which employs the most advanced imaging, molecular, cellular and bioinformatics techniques. Our focus is to gain greater understanding of MS susceptibility and long-term disease progression.
